Our firearms safety class provides students with basic skills for handling firearms safely in a safe, interactive environment. This is a very basic firearms safety class for persons new to handling or owning firearms. This class focuses on new gun owners or persons who are considering owning a gun. Students will learn about loading and unloading revolvers and semi-auto pistols. Students will handle various types of firearms and they will fire simunition weapons with an instructor. Light refreshments will be provided and students will receive eye and ear protection when they complete the class. This class is sponsored by the Lawrenceville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and is hosted at the Lawrenceville Police Department. The Lawrenceville Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association provides graduates of the Lawrenceville Citizen's Police Academy (CPA) the opportunity to stay involved and help continue to promote a better understanding and improved community relationship with the Lawrenceville Police Department.   Alumni Association membership is available to any CPA class graduate who wants to stay involved and continue their relationships with fellow academy alumni and officers.   Some of the benefits of Alumni Association membership are: Continued training opportunities Interaction and support of the Police Department and the officers Networking with like minded citizens The CPA is designed to educate citizens about their police department and how officers enforce local and state laws. The goal of the CPA is to create and develop a growing nucleus of responsible, well informed citizens, who have the potential to influence public opinion concerning police practices and the delivery of services.   Participants in the CPA come from all walks of life; recent college graduates to senior citizens, novelists to IRS investigators to computer analysts.
