Brewing your first batch, including your own kombucha culture , basic single batch brewing, bottling, flavoring, and caring for your SCOBY.
Taught by Becky Tower. The cost is $39.
Kombucha is a lightly sweetened fermented tea that has grown in popularity over the past few decades in the United States. It began selling in health food stores and has flourished into nationwide business. Advocates say some of the health benefits come from the lactic-acid bacteria, which works as a probiotic with vitamin B benefits for digestion, immune system, and energy. Instead of paying $4 to $6 per bottle, you can make your own for pennies on the dollar.
This class provides hands on application for brewing your own first batch, including your own kombucha culture (SCOBY), basic single batch brewing, bottling, flavoring, and caring for your SCOBY. Samples of various home-brewed kombucha will be available for tasting, along with several recipes and educational information. You can bring your own one-gallon glass jar with a lid or purchase one with your registration for an additional $9. This will include a muslin cloth, a rubber band, and a plastic lid to cover the jar.
