Swampscott Beach Brigade Set To Clean Up Coastline Saturday

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The Massachusetts Surfrider Foundation will be hitting the shores of Swampscott on Saturday to help clean up Fisherman's Beach. The Surfriders — who describe themselves as an all-volunteer environmental group dedicated to protecting our local ocean, waves and beaches for all people, and increasing public awareness of these important natural resources —will be meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with local residents invited to join and help the cleanup cause. There is free two-hour parking along Humphrey Street as well as a free public parking lot. The Surfriders will be set up to the right of the parking lot (facing the beach) with a blue Surfrider flag. Participants are asked to pre-register for the cleanup if possible to receive additional details and waiver forms. Those helping out are asked to bring their own reusable work gloves. Buckets, pickup tools and hand sanitizer will be provided. Those looking to help or who have any questions are invited to contact [email protected]. Volunteers will be respecting social distancing measures. Those who have been recently exposed to a coronavirus-positive case or who are experiencing possible COVID-19 symptoms are asked no9t to attend and find other ways to help protect the ocean through the Surfriders.
