Here are the top stories today in Spokane: A press conference was held on Wednesday between Providence Health Care and the Department of Defense to discuss federal medical support. Providence recently welcomed 20 physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists from the DOD to relieve some of the strain caregivers have faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new batch of caregivers are expected to be onsite at Sacred Heart Medical Center for approximately one month. (KREM.com) The Inland Northwest has thousands of seniors or individuals living with a disability who rely on home caregivers. The low caregiver pool is the result of many factors, the biggest coming down to COVID. DSHS says the highest need right now is in the Spokane area, but they are also hoping to secure a pool of at least 20 works in the outlining more rural communities to be available for urgent needs.
