Press release from the Belmont Public Library: October 14, 2021 Myrtle Mills, a fictional lady who has endured "every illness known to man", escorts audiences into the simultaneously advanced and utterly primitive world of medicine during the late 1800's. Audiences learn about Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, hygiene practices, patented "remedies", kitchen- cupboard concoctions, dentistry, pregnancy, industry-altering discoveries such as the x-ray and practices that, in today's world, defy common sense.
