Herndon Scholars Achieve Academic Honors At Their Schools

HERNDON, VA — Many college students from Herndon have returned to their respective schools for the start of the fall 2021 academic semester. But some students spent the spring and summer studying on campus and have already distinguished themselves academically. Maya Elassal of Herndon joins the thousands of alumni who proudly wear The Citadel class ring. More than 550 cadets, active duty and veteran students from the Class of 2022 were celebrated during the Ring Presentation Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 1, after marching across Summerall Field, directly into Summerall Chapel, where the rings were presented. The following students from Herndon made the Dean's List for the summer term at University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC): Steven Sturgeon, Troy Scites, Karime Vance, Lindsay Foster, Rome Thompson, Casey Trahan and Alexander Liu. A student must have completed at least six credit during the semester and earned a grade point average of 3.5 fo the term and a cumulative GPA of 3.5 to be named to the Dean's List.
