County Sheriff's Office Investigating Watsonville Shooting

WATSONVILLE, CA -- The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office is requesting help from the public as it investigates a shooting that occurred recently at a local apartment complex. Around 9:20 am on Saturday, Oct. 16, a shooting occurred at an apartment complex on Stewart Ave in Watsonville, according to the SCCSO. The victim, a 45-year-old male from Watsonville, was shot and transported to a local hospital where he is expected to survive. The victim was believed to have been specifically targeted. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male of unknown age. The suspect fled the area in a sedan, per witnesses. Detectives are actively investigating the shooting and potential motives, but do not believe this shooting is related to a murder to took place in the city days earlier.
