LAKEWOOD, NJ — There were two crashes involving school buses in Lakewood on Thursday, bringing the total to at least five school bus crashes in the town in just over a month. Lakewood News Network and The Lakewood Scoop published photos of the crash that happened sometime around 10 p.m. involving and at least one other vehicle. The bus had the bus company's name in Hebrew lettering on its side. The front of the bus was mangled and at least one other vehicle was involved in the crash, which the reports said happened on River Avenue. There was no immediate word on injuries. Thursday's crashes come two weeks after a spate of three crashes within two weeks, including one where a school bus wound up perched on another vehicle, and a crash where police said the driver was believed to have suffered a medical emergency before the bus ran off a road and hit two parked cars. The Lakewood Scoop reported that Lakewood police had promised to review crashes involving school buses to see what can be done to prevent crashes, and meet with the bus companies to address the situation.
