OAK LAWN, IL –Free, drive-thru document shredding will offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School, 5345 W. 99th St., Oak Lawn. Residents are invited to bring old tax returns, pay stubs, bills, pre-approved credit offers from the mail, receipts and credit card applications for safe destruction. Documents will be shredded on site. There is a 2-box limit per car (you may also use paper bags, but no plastic). Place your boxes sin the trunk or back seat for quick removal. A volunteer will take your items. The boxes will be returned to your vehicle. Any documents to be shredded must be unbound; please remove any staples, clips or paper clips before arrival. Shredding is by Shark Shredding. Document shredding is one of the most effective tools in preventing identity theft. Shredding documents also has positive environmental impacts; once shredded, all paper is recycled, thereby reducing the amount of waste in landfills.
