LISLE, IL — AMITA Health announced Thursday that it will split back up into two separate hospital systems. The Lisle-based organization was formed just over seven years ago as a joint partnership between AdventHealth and Ascension.
The shift comes after officials for both AdventHealth and Ascension "determined that going forward separately is in their collective best interest in order to more nimbly meet the changing needs and expectations of consumers in the rapidly evolving healthcare environment," a news release on the AMITA Health website said.
The split is not expected to impact patient care, the news release added, explaining "[b]oth organizations are committed to a smooth and expeditious transition."
Citing Thursday's news release, a spokesperson for AMITA Health told Patch more details about the shift will be made available once "decisions are made and communicated across the organization."
AMITA Health, which formed in 2015, has a network of 19 hospitals that includes 15 acute care hospitals and four specialty hospitals.
