ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a hotel helper, a wallet theft, a DUI, an intoxicated man, a forgery, a donation box with cut-off padlocks and a dispute over an order of protection. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Helper suspected A woman said another woman helped her with her luggage and items about 6 p.m. Monday at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave. The woman with the luggage said the other woman stole her two wallets containing her driver's license, Social Security card and credit cards. The victim found several unauthorized withdrawals from her bank accounts. An investigation is pending. The suspect was described as white, 5-foot-6 and wearing a white jacket. Wallet theft A man told police that someone stole his wallet between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday while at Butterfield Park, 385 E. Van Buren St. Upon returning home, he received several text notifications of unauthorized purchases using his credit cards. DUI Cory D. Piotrowski, 30, of Carol Stream, was arrested about 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of West North Avenue on a charge of DUI. He was released on bond. According to a police report, Piotrowski was found unresponsive in a parked car that was running. Endangering child Holland J. Richardson, 20, of Burlington, Iowa, was arrested shortly after midnight Thursday in the 200 block of North Elm Avenue on charges of endangering the life of a child (two counts), leaving the scene of a property damage accident, unlawful possession of marijuana, reckless driving, driving too fast for conditions and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on bond. According to a police report, Richardson crashed his car and fled. Converter removed A catalytic converter was removed from a car while it was parked in front of a house in the 100 block of East Van Buren Street. The theft happened between 11 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Monday. Intoxicated man falls An intoxicated man fell about 1 p.m. Monday at the train depot, 128 W. First St. The man said he had drunk too much alcohol with medication. He was on the train and did not know how he fell. He was taken to the hospital. Forgery A woman told police she had her cellphone shipped to the T-Mobile store, 624 N. York St., on Monday. An unknown person signed for it. An investigation is pending. Donation box padlocks cut A member of the Elmhurst Lions Club reported that someone cut off two padlocks, which secured the donation box at the club's pumpkin sale. The member did not believe any money was missing from the box. The theft happened between 4:30 p.m. Oct. 14 and 11 a.m. Oct. 15. Vaping issue The resource officer at York High School noticed a student smoking from a vape device about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The student's parents were notified. The student was referred to the peer jury program. Order of protection A mother and her daughter have an order of protection against a suspect. The suspect drove next to the daughter and spoke to her as she walked home from school about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South York Street. Police were unsuccessful in their attempts to reach the suspect. An investigation is pending. Dispute A woman told police that a suspect entered her apartment at 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of South Prospect Avenue. An argument ensued. The case is pending an investigation. Shoplifting Two people placed cigarette packs inside a bag and fled about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. They were last seen in a red older model four-door sedan heading south. The case is pending an investigation. Police report information is provided by local police departments.
