Glendora Council Poised To Extend Virtual Meetings

GLENDORA, CA — The Glendora City Council is expected to hold meetings virtually for a little bit longer. Glendora officials will vote on a resolution during the City Council's Tuesday meeting allowing them to continue to hold virtual meetings, according to a city staff report. If it passes, the City Council could hold virtual meetings through the end of November. City officials have held their meetings through teleconference since March 2020, after Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order that required local municipalities to switch to virtual meetings in response to the pandemic. The order expired on Sept. 30, but the City Council reauthorized remote teleconferencing for an additional month, the staff reported said. City officials gave several reasons for the extension, including room capacity limits stymying the number of people that could attend a meeting, and that wearing face-coverings impact the "quality, clarity and the volume of speech." The City Council will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. The meeting will be available to stream on Glendora's website.
