Darien Man Among Latest DUI Arrests: Cops

DARIEN, IL — Darien police arrested five people on DUI charges last week. Here is information from the reports: Jay Joshi, 39, of Darien, was arrested about 7 p.m. Oct. 13 in the 7900 block of Sawyer Road on charges of DUI and failure to reduce speed. He struck a parked car near where he lives. He was released and given a date to appear in court. Quiana Hawkins, 28, of Chicago, was arrested about 3 p.m. Oct. 12 in the 2100 block of 75th Street on charges of DUI and endangering the health or life of a child. She also had multiple warrants from Black Hawk County, Iowa, and a fugitive from justice warrant from DuPage County. She was one of the drivers in an accident. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.Donte Ross, 36, of Chicago, was arrested about 11 p.m. Oct. 12 near Cass Avenue and Interstate 55 on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license, speeding and improper lane usage. His passenger, Abelardo Zapato, 31, of Willowbrook, was arrested on a warrant charging failure to appear in court in an assault case. Ross was released and given a date to appear in court. Zapato was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Carlos Valdez Garcia, 33, of Chicago, was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday in the 8700 block of Lemont Road on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage. An officer stopped Garcia after seeing him veering in and out of the left and right lanes multiple times. He was released and given a date to appear in court.Carlos Garcia, 39, of Aurora, was arrested about 8 p.m. Saturday in the area of Plainfield and Clarendon Hills roads on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended license, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device and transportation of alcohol by a driver. Police responded to a report of a reckless driver. He was released and given a date to appear in court. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
