TRUSSVILLE, AL — With colder weather coming in the next few months, a nationwide spike in gas prices could have significant effects on everyone in the country. However, Trussville Gas and Water said their customers should not expect the kind of increase in rates felt nationwide, according to a Trussville Tribune report.
Despite projections of increased gas bills of up to 30 percent nationwide, Trussville Gas and Water officials said their customers should expect rate increases of 8.5 percent or lower, the Tribune report said.
"Because Trussville Gas and Water is a municipal corporation, our board's focus is on the customers, not on shareholders," the company's general manager Mike Strength said. "Their goal is not to maximize profits but to protect our customers from rate shocks."
