I've been doing some online jamming and have been having fun with it. Ninjam works well for people near and far but forces some compromise that limits spontaneity. Of course the randomness and playing with people from other cultures is pretty cool too I'd like to find some people who are geographically closer though so we can use programs like Sonobus that supposedly allow real time jamming without the calibrated lag that ninjam requires. Supposedly within 400 miles works pretty good. Requires audio interface, wired headphone and wired input from mic, instruments, etc. For speed and feedback control. Not Bluetooth or WiFi. And also need broadband internet. Probably better with a computer rather than phone or tablet but supposedly it is possible. Basically, if you're set up to do computer recording with a daw, you're good to go. I'm primarily a guitar player but mess around with other instruments too. If you have the interest and the equipment but have never jammed online before, I'm willing to help you figure things out. Email me thru Craigslist then we can talk.
