Job Overview: The Driller Helper is a key operational piece in the execution of on-site drilling activities. The Driller Helper works with the Driller and other Driller Helpers to operate drilling rigs and support equipment. Driller Helpers with a positive attitude and satisfactory performance have an opportunity for fast advancement to Driller. Work is outdoors in all weather conditions and generally physically demanding. This position requires extensive travel up to 95% of the time, and the ability to work with a small crew. Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist preparation of drilling rigs (Auger, Rotary, Sonic) and support equipment. • Assist Driller and other Driller Helpers in execution of site-specific project and operate support equipment including water trucks, excavation equipment, and saws/torches. • Work with Driller and other Driller Helpers to ensure project goals are met (including execution goals, health and safety goals, quality assurance goals, and others). • Assist Driller in maintaining all required drilling reports, orders, and logs. • Safe and responsible operation of assigned equipment. • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines. • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage before and after route. • Promotes positive and professional relationships with client and crew. • Maintains all required certifications, licenses, and training. • Completes other duties and projects, as assigned. Skills and Qualifications: • CDL, Class A preferred. Must obtain CDL permit within 6 months if you do not have a CDL, with clean driving record. • 3 years’ experience with heavy equipment. • Must pass required pre-employment physical (including drug testing) and annual medical surveillance physical exam for clearance to work on hazardous waste sites. • Must be available to travel as required for job. • Demonstrated critical thinking capacity, solid truck and heavy equipment knowledge, field circumstances knowledge, computer skills, negotiating skills and leadership skills. • High School Diploma or GED preferred. • Ability to lift and carry 70 pounds throughout the day, maneuver in small areas, and stand for long periods of time. • Knowledge of safety policies, regulations, and a demonstrated record of excellent safety habits. HAZWOPER certification preferred. Working Environment: Works in the shop as well as outdoors. Travel is required.
