A beloved Worcester tradition, this concert (sold out for 40 years!) highlights the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, Jorge Soto, conductor, performing traditional favorites of the season, light classics, and holiday gems. Performers include Jane Shivick and Christon Carney, Vocal Soloists; Assumption University Chorus (Brad Dumont, director) and Worcester State University Chorus; Irish Step Dancers from the Murphy Academy of Irish Dance; plus a visit by Santa Claus. We adhere to the safety protocols of each venue at which MSO performs. Massachusetts Symphony OrchestraWith its mission to make its high-quality symphonic concerts accessible to as many people in the community as possible, the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra's annual activities include its admission-free Summer Family Concert Series in Worcester's East and Institute Parks as well as symphonic and 'pops' performances in Worcester's Tuckerman and Mechanics Halls and at Worcester’s Hanover Theatre before audiences numbering in the thousands. The Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency dedicated to promoting the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences in the Commonwealth, said about the Massachusetts Symphony that "[f]or years the applicant seems to have interacted with its community in a broad range of ways, leading to the group's well-established track record among its diverse supporters. The quality of [its] music submitted is excellent, as is the organization's administration - which is dedicated to maintaining and extending the group's commitment to diversity."
