Songwriter seeking bandmates

Description

My name is K, I'm 28 years old and I'm looking to get a live and recording band together. I am hoping to find musicians who treat music like a full time job and enjoy themselves while doing it. I am just starting to pull on strings to get a band together so I need every instrument. I do play guitar and trombone so I will play either or both of those (not at the same time, lol). Bare minimum of course would be drums, bass and guitar/keyboard. Ideally, though, I’d love to have horns, a synth player, a cellist and backup vocals. I have managed bands for about 10 years, toured the west coast several times, recorded on multiple EPs/LPs and written 30+ songs. I mostly have experience in punk/ska/folk/jazz/classical but I do not think about genre when I write. I speak the language of music theory well from my time studying music composition and jazz arranging at EWU and while I didn't finish a degree, I utilize what I learned there every day. That said, I also can learn music by ear and am completely open to working with musicians who exclusively play by ear. Some people are elitist and think music theory is the only way, but I am not elitist, theory just works for my brain. I have a little bit of experience with audio engineering and have a bare bones home studio where I do my own recording. My vision for this project is for the music to support whatever message the song has and not to be any particular genre or target any particular audience. I just want to make artful music that is fun and expressive, whatever sound or genre comes of that is great for me! Mostly we will be playing my originals, but I am open to covers, co-written songs and songs by other members of the band. Should you decide you want to join this project, I'll send you the skeleton of a song and you can write a part to it and send me a recording of what you came up with. The recording can be of any quality, even just a phone recording, and I will make a decision based on that and how well I feel like we get along. I hope that this all sounds like a good fit for you! Please email me if you are interested! Thank you for your time. -K (They/them)
