Title: Mechanic/technician Reports to: Shop Manager, Operations Manager Start Date: Immediately Description: Cascade Farms is a certified limited generation seed potato grower, processor, and shipper in Lynden, WA. Summary: The mechanic will work with operations manager and shop manager to effectively maintain, repair, and monitor all equipment relating to the production and shipping of seed potatoes and rotational crops. In this role you will: • Preventatively maintain tractors, implements, processing equipment, trucks and other equipment to improve up time and safety • Repair equipment in the shop or field as to keep operation running smoothly • Determine repairs or maintenance that may be best suited to be performed by outside dealers or shops • Assist management in purchasing and selling of equipment • Communicate with other managers of scheduled maintenance and status of repairs • Be part of a team of diverse members in a close-knit atmosphere Physical Demands: • Work in a variety of environments in all weather conditions • Walk across uneven surfaces and other outdoor workspaces • Work at heights up to 25 feet with proper safety measures • Stand, reach, squat, kneel, bend, and lift objects up to 75 lbs. • Climb stairs and ladders occasionally Required Qualifications: • A valid US driver’s license and ability to pass vehicle insurance verification • At least 1 year of experience in a maintenance or repair shop or related operation, or technical training certificate in a mechanical field • Ability to respectfully communicate with peers and managers • Ability to be a “team player” and respect others Desired Qualifications: • Technical training certificate in mechanics, diesel technology, electrical systems or related study • 3+ years of experience working in equipment repair and maintenance, this will be waived if applicant has completed technical training in a related field. • Working knowledge to troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, hydraulic, and engine power systems • Experience in an agricultural field • Demonstrate efficiency with basic uses of Microsoft Excel and internet research of parts diagrams etc. • Ability to be on call and work long hours seasonally, specifically in spring and fall. • Proficiency operating forklifts, trucks, dump trucks, excavators, tractors, and other equipment • Willingness to assist in other aspects of the operation • Ability to work and make budget-based decisions • Ability to self-manage and innovate better, safer, and more efficient processes • Ability to maintain an organized workspace Work Authorization: All persons hired will be required, per federal law, to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States Benefits: • Competitive pay • Company provided vehicle while at work • Healthcare, dental and vision coverage paid by employer • Paid vacation and sick time • Family atmosphere with many meals provided during busy seasons • On site ownership and management Cascade Farms is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on Covid vaccination status, sex, race, gender identity, marital status, age, or veteran status
