Help us improve by giving us your feedback Help us improve by giving us your feedback Published on October 19, 2021 Last Thursday, District 5 Miami City Commissioner Jeffrey Watson unveiled a bronze sculpture of Muhammad Ali by artist Basil Watson at his City Hall office. Students from CARE Elementary School in Wynwood joined Commissioner Watson for the unveiling of "THE GREATEST - Muhammad Ali", which is now on public display for City Hall visitors to view until January. Basil Watson, renowned as Jamaica's greatest sculptor, created the tribute to Ali as he "challenges the World to stand up and be accounted for". "After reading 'Ali' to CARE Elementary students for their READ On kickoff program recently, we learned that Mohammad Ali was an integral part of Miami," said Commissioner Watson. "It is important that we continue teaching our children about pioneers within our community."  Ali's life and boxing career were closely linked to Miami: he spent time living in both Miami's Overtown and Liberty City neighborhoods in District 5, along with training and fighting in Miami Beach.
