Here are the top stories today in Port Jefferson: Woman Ambushed in Port Jeff Trail: Police on Long Island are looking for a man who ambushed a woman as she walked on a public trail. Police say the 54-year-old woman was tackled from behind Wednesday morning on the Greenway Trail in Port Jefferson Station. Investigators say once the victim was on the ground, the man put his hand over her mouth and made sexual comments. (CBS New York) Possible Gun Shots Reported In Port Jefferson Station: Suffolk County police responded to 9-1-1 caller reporting possible gun shots in Port Jefferson Station on Sunday. Police said they were called to a location near Grand and Olympia lanes at about 11:25 a.m. after a 9-1-1 caller reported "hearing loud bangs they believed were gun shots." Once at the scene, police officers found there was no evidence of a shooting.
