OYSTER BAY, NY — Track work this month will result in service changes and schedule adjustments on multiple Long Island Rail Road branches, including Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, and Ronkonkoma. As part of the LIRR's Main Line Expansion Project — one of the region's most significant transportation infrastructure projects — crews will be working near Queens Village during the weekends of Oct. 23-24 and 30-31. And that will take both existing Main Line tracks out of service for 48 hours each weekend between New Hyde Park and Hicksville. As a result, there will be no train service to New Hyde Park, Merillon Avenue, Mineola, Carle Place, or Westbury. All service to and from Bethpage Station will be provided by shuttle trains between Babylon and Hicksville. "Driving is no match for the LIRR," LIRR President Phil Eng said. "We provide the greenest and quickest way to travel across Long Island, and this mainline switch work will add redundancy, reliability, and operational flexibility as we continuously look to provide service improvements for our customers' needs, both for today's riders and future generations." LIRR customers are encouraged to download and use the revamped LIRR TrainTime app for up-to-date train information. The app is available for free on both iOS Apple and Android devices.
