NORTHPORT, NY — Little Davey, Louise and Tinker Bell, who are all 4 months old, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week. Each cat is an orphan and was found alone, said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. "They came to us all by themselves, one by one, scared and confused," Wild told Patch in an email. The rescue's foster moms and dads have regularly stepped up, according to Wild. The foster home that took in the three featured pets of the week is one the rescue called "Katherine's Orphanage." As each kitten showed up, Katherine would come and pick them up and rush them back to her home to join the others. "She integrated them perfectly," Wild said. "They all became buddies and even had an older cat 'Foster Brother' named Theo, who welcomed each one into foster care with love. As they learned to trust, each of their personalities began to blossom." Louise is a female tortie who is extremely loving and absolutely loves to be pet, according to Wild. Her purrs can be heard across the room as she rubs her cheek against one's hand to encourage more pets and rolls around repeatedly while getting love. She will greet people as they walk into the room with a quiet meow and enjoys being silly and playing with anyone that is willing. Little Davey, a male tabby, is shy and sweet, Wild said. "He was very frightened when he arrived and required lots of attention. He was so needy that his Foster mom carried him around in a baby sling. However the one that Little Davey was most responsive to, was big brother Theo. He took him under his wing, and Little Davey learned to trust." Little Davey loves to be pet on his head, cheeks, and near his tail. He can still be timid, but with patience, he is the sweetest boy, Wild said. The worst rain storm of the year was minutes away from hitting before the rescue got her to safety, Wild said. She was sent to Katherine's orphanage and was warm and cozy with her newfound friends. "She is so incredibly soft and fluffy," Wild said. "She loves attention, loves to be pet and to play. She gives kisses by rubbing her face against anyone who is willing to show her love. She is also extremely friendly with other cats." All of the kittens get along well with other cats and have even been fostered with a dog. "They are all waiting for their forever homes in our habitats, which is not always easy for kittens," Wild said. "They are all ready for their happily ever afters, where they will never feel alone again." Little Davey, Louise and Tinker Bell are all spayed/neutered, have all their shots, are litter-box trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative. The cat rescue invites all to join from noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Cobble Cat, at 196 Laurel Ave., Northport for its Kitten and Cat Adoption Event. If you are interested in meeting Little Davey, Louise and Tinker Bell, you can head to the Northport Cat Rescue Association website and fill out an application to let them know you would like to meet them or any of the other kittens and cats.
