Description
New Rochelle, NY - October 20 - Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but many kids go without it. Students at The Ursuline School in New Rochelle wanted to do something to change that.
Today, after going without breakfast in solidarity with kids who are hungry, theyended a week-long project to collect breakfast cereal for the Hope Food Pantryin New Rochelle.
In 2020, over 60 million Americans turned to food pantries for help. The girls collected over 1,000 boxes of cereal which they assembled into a domino pattern which snaked throughout the school.
The symbolism: that acts of goodwill can create a domino effect that results inpositive change.
The project was led by the school's Director of Philanthropy Catherine McCarthy and school teamleaders Lena Gilardi (10th), Olivia Goncalves (12), Caralyn LoConte (9th) andMary Cinguina (11th).
The 9 and 12th grade girls won the challenge of collecting the most boxes. They winning team will get a pizza party, in addition to the reward of doing good.
