Chesapeake Bay Retriever - 1yo AKC male for re-homing

Description

We have a happy, healthy 1yo (as of 11-05-21) pure AKC Chesapeake Bay Retriever male dog that we are looking for a more suitable home for. He is all solid medium/dark brown with no markings and has nice curly fur. He is intact, not neutered and up to date on all his shots and has had no health issues including no apparent hip issues or history of with his parents. He is very happy and smart, but full of tons of energy and loves to chew (constantly) and we are just not able to give him the kind of space and attention he seems to need and deserve. We have only kept him inside as a family dog and have not attempted to train him for any hunting purposes, but perhaps that may be what he really needs. We have not had any professional training for him yet either, which of course could help, and may be our next step if keeping him. He is food/treat focused and should be trainable. He does know his name and and responds to basic commands. We unfortunately do not seem to have the skills, space or time to devote to him as needed. After having him for almost a year, he is still a lot more of a handful than we can manage. He walks on a leash fairly well and is not aggressive in any way. He is more than happy to meet people and other dogs, although he is still quite jumpy with puppy energy. He chases our cat who has managed to stay one step ahead of him so far, but it seems more in a attempt to play, not dangerously. If the cat wouldn't run, he probably wouldn't chase. But that's a catch 22 situation that is still on-going after a year. We will only consider a new loving home that can handle his type of breed and needs. Re-homing fees are negotiable but please keep in mind he is a pure bred dog and we have considerable money, time and love invested in him. We are NOT looking to just give him away to anyone. We reserve the right to decline any offers for any reason and to inspect any future home as part of negotiations if we feel warranted. Please understand that we want what is best for him. Please be serious with any replies. Apologies in advance, but this is Craigslist, so anything that does not seem sincere and serious or with little to no information will be ignored.
