LONG BEACH, NY — Election Day is fast approaching and Patch is giving you a look at the candidates on the Nov. 2 ballot. Nassau County Legislator Denise Ford seeks reelection in the 4th Legislative District, which covers Long Beach, Lido Beach and Point Lookout. She is opposed by Claudia Lovas. Patch asked Ford where he stands on important issues affecting the community. Here are her responses. To continue to serve my constituents and work on the various projects I have startedThe single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it. Taxes. I intend to continue to hold the line on them and work to bring alternate sources of revenue What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post? I am not familiar with my opponent but I will continue to work to the best of my ability to represent my district How do you think local officials performed in responding to the coronavirus? What if anything would you have done differently? I think our local government officials responded well as they secured PPE and other supplies to protect our residents. We pushed for testing and vaccinations in our areas as well Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform. I support our first responders and fight to protect our environment What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job? I chaired the Public Safety Committee where we worked with groups to submit a Police Reform plan required by New York State. I sponsored legislation to prohibit the sale of styrofoam products in Nassau County. The best advice ever shared with me was: Listen and work for your constituents What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
