NEW LONDON, CT — A 22-year-old New London man was arrested on a host of narcotics charges early Wednesday after police said officers found 1,500 bags of fentanyl, thousands of dollars in cash and drug paraphernalia in his possession during a traffic stop. Tavarion Brewer, of Franklin Street, was pulled over near Franklin and Jay streets just before 1 a.m. after officers found him asleep at the wheel of a stopped vehicle. "Once awake, Brewer was observed attempting to conceal narcotic paraphernalia from an officer's view," New London police wrote in a statement. A search of the vehicle turned up the fentanyl, which weighed 325 grams; $3,357 in cash; an electronic scale; a BB gun rifle; and other drug related material, according to police. Brewer was taken into custody and charged with the following: Possession of narcotics with intent to sellPossession of narcoticsPossession of drug paraphernaliaOperating a drug factoryWeapon in a motor vehicleOperating a motor vehicle under suspensionMisuse of registration platesFailure to carry proof of minimum insurance He was held in lieu of an undisclosed bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court at a later date.
