Description
I am the volunteer steward at Oakhurst Forest Preserve and I invite you to join me on Saturday for workday removing invasive shrubs.
Plants such buckthorn and honeysuckle were introduced to the US from Europe, and have subsequently gone rogue. They out-compete and crowd out native flora, resulting in a decrease in the biodiversity of plants and the animals that depends on them. Removing these invasives helps bring balance to ecosystem. Plus it's a good way to get some exercise and enjoy nature
All welcome, and no experienced required. All you need are a pair of (leather) workgloves and clothing appropriate for working outside.
