AUSTIN, TX — The Nov. 2 election is just around the corner, Austin. With early voting set to start Oct. 18-29, there are a few things you should know before you head to the ballot to cast your vote. In your area, there will be two propositions on the ballot in Austin, including the highly debated Prop A, which will force the city to hire more police officers. To get you started, here's when and where to cast your vote and a breakdown of what else is on the ballot for Nov. 2. Where to vote in AustinEarly Voting Early voting will start Monday, Oct. 18 and will continue through Friday, Oct. 29. Voting will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Election Day Voting locations on Election Day will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Here are a few Election Day voting centers that will be located in Austin. City of Austin Propositions Proposition A: Shall a petitioned ordinance be approved to enhance public safety and police oversight, transparency and accountability by adding new chapter 2-16 to establish minimum standards for the police department to ensure effective public safety and protect residents and visitors to Austin, and prescribing minimal requirements for achieving the same, at an estimated cost of $271.5 million - $598.8 million over five years?Proposition B: Shall the City Council be authorized to convey or lease approximately 9 acres of parkland currently used as the Central Maintenance Complex (CMC) located at 2525 S. Lakeshore Blvd. through a public bidding process, where the total value of the bid is equal to or greater than the appraised fair market value of CMC, in exchange for at a minimum: 1) at least 48 acres of waterfront land contiguous to an existing City park; and 2) the cost or construction of a new maintenance facility for the Parks and Recreation Department on other city-owned land; and 3) partial or full funding for the removal of Fiesta Gardens' existing maintenance facility and restoration of that land to parkland?Travis County ESD No. 17 The Annexation election for city of Pflugerville Proposition A: Adding the geographic boundaries of the city of Pflugerville located in Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2 to Travis County Emergency Services District No. 17.Proposition B: The geographic boundaries of the city of Pflugerville located in Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2 assuming its proportionate share of the outstanding debts and taxes of the Travis County Emergency Services District No. 17, if it is added to the district.The Annexation election for unincorporated area. Proposition A: Adding the unincorporated areas situated within the boundaries of Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2 that are not included within the boundaries of Travis County Emergency Services District No. 17 to the Travis County Emergency Services District No. 17.Proposition B: The unincorporated areas situated within the boundaries of Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2 which are not included within the boundaries of Travis County Emergency Services District No. 17 assuming its proportionate share of the outstanding debts and taxes of the Travis County Emergency Services District No. 17, if it is added to the district.Travis County voters can find their personal ballot here.
