Description

Press release from the Urbandale Community School District: October 20th, 2021 The 23rd Annual English Language Learner (ELL) Clothing Drive was a huge success! The Clothing Drive, coordinated by 6th Grade EL Teacher Alissa Morrison and Olmsted EL Teacher Annie Siev, gathers donations in order to distribute clean and warm clothing to ELL families in the District. A total of 353 boxes of clothes and items were collected in order to support approximately 100 ELL families who attended the Drive. Items that were not distributed during the Clothing Drive will continue to be distributed to UCSD students with the remainder of items going to Central Iowa Shelter and Services.  The success of this program relies on the generous donations of Urbandale families and friends of our community for which we are grateful to receive. Thank you to Storage Mart in Clive, Two Men and a Truck, Urbandale Middle School staff, Urbandale Middle School PE department, and all of the many staff throughout the District and community members who volunteered their time before, during, and after the event.  Thank you to Alissa Morrison and Annie Siev for the countless hours they dedicated to coordinating all of the many, many logistics for the Clothing Drive. This event serves a critical need in helping to support families. One of the many ways UCSD educators continue #caring4U. This press release was produced by the Urbandale Community School District.
