ORLAND PARK, IL — The Village of Orland Park has been seeing a consistent decrease in COVID-19 positivity for weeks, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.
The health department's latest statistics on the virus show that 65 cases have been recorded in the village within this past week. According to the department, the percent change in confirmed cases in the past 14 days is negative 16 percent in Orland Park. Since the start of the pandemic, the village has had a total of 7,660 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the department reports.
More than half of the village has been inoculated with both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. According to the health department, 44,914, or 79 percent of Orland Park residents have received at least one dose of a vaccine. People who are fully vaccinated with two doses include 37,933 or 67 percent of Orland Park residents. Over 57 thousand people live in Orland Park, Census data shows.
Cook County in general has a 2.2 percent positivity rate. Since the start of the pandemic, 286,875 Cook County residents have tested positive for the virus, and 4,777 have died. The department reports that the county currently has a high community transmission level.
