PHILADELPHIA — Authorities have filed murder and related charges against a 21-year-old man in connection with a shooting outside a Philadelphia school Monday. Court records show Aaron Scott, 21, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person, and simple assault. The charges stem from an incident that occurred at about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Rowland and Ryan avenues near Abraham Lincoln High School. A fight reportedly broke out, and shots were fired, allegedly by Scott, who authorities said shot and killed 65-year-old passerby Jeff Carter, as well as a 16-year-old student who is in critical condition. Carter was driving to his home after dropping off a Sweet 16 dress for his granddaughter when he was shot, NBC 10 reports. According to Action News, two plainclothes police officers were in an unmarked car when the gunfire broke out, saying there was a group of teens outside a pizza shop when Scott showed up and opened fire. Scott was denied bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 2, court documents show.
