JOLIET, IL — A 33-year-old man from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was arrested inside the Harrah's Casino early Wednesday morning after Joliet police say he pulled out a pocket knife and threatened to bring harm to Harrah's private security guards.
Aaron Harter was arrested by Joliet police on aggravated assault charges, according to police. The incident happened around 12:25 a.m.
"Harter was asked to leave the casino floor due to his level of intoxication," police spokesman Dwayne English indicated.
As the Harrah's security officers were escorting Harter back to his hotel room, he sat down in a hallway, police said. When the security officer told Harter he had to return to his room, "Harter pulled out a pocketknife and extended the blade and asked the officer who was going to make him go back to his room," police reports show.
The Harrah's security guards managed to detain the Fort Wayne man until Joliet police arrived at the casino, which is only two blocks away from the downtown police station.
Harter was taken into custody without any problems, police noted.
