LAKE COUNTY, IL — So far, 70 percent of College of Lake County students have submitted proof that they've received their COVID-19 vaccine, which is required to continue in-person learning at CLC's campuses in Grayslake, Vernon Hills and Waukegan, college officials say. CLC is working to encourage the remaining 30 percent to comply with Gov. JB Pritzker's September executive order, which requires all higher education personnel and students to receive their vaccine. Students who do not submit proof of vaccination must submit weekly COVID test results if they'd like to continue learning in-person. Those who choose not to get vaccinated or undergo weekly testing can still opt for virtual learning and also have other support options available to them, according to a Tuesday news release from CLC. "We do not want to lose any students because of the mandate," said Sonya Williams, chief academic officer for the College of Lake County. "We're doing what we can to make it so their education can continue." Free testing is available at the Grayslake Campus Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in room C106, according to the news release. Along with the state mandate, CLC has a face mask requirement on campus that has been in place since the beginning of August. Students were also incentivized to receive the vaccine with a $100 check for submitting their vaccination card. CLC is offering vaccine clinics at all three campuses.
