DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn Public Schools is offering free Parent University courses to parents and their children who live in the district, according to a news release. The program will focus on parents participating in hands-on activities with their child to increase bonding and help with child development. "This program is interactive for parents and children," Early Childhood Coordinator Amy Modica, who oversees Parent University said. "It gives parents easy, practical and inexpensive ideas to help foster child development and to strengthen the parent-child bond." Live in Dearborn? Courses will focus on topics that include, social emotional, dental care, nutrition and health and screen time and technology. They will also emphasize core topics, such as math, literacy, science and music and movement Parents will also hear from professionals in these areas and receive free materials to continue learning through play at home. The classes will run weekly through Nov. 12 and will be offered on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at five Dearborn Public elementary schools: Cotter, McDonald, Oakman, River Oaks and Salina.
