TRUSSVILLE, AL – The Husky Wrestling Club broke ground Monday in Trussville with a ribbon cutting ceremony in front of their new facility at 8331 Gadsen Highway, in cooperation with the Trussville Chamber of Commerce.
The club, which opened in September, offers year-round wrestling training in folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco Roman wrestling. "Our mission is to introduce and grow youth wrestling in our community and to support the growth of the HTMS, HTHS, and surround wrestling programs," the club says on its website.
Its coaches are Trussville wrestling alumni: Jackson Araneta wrestled under HTHS coach Chris Pike, while David Barden teaches at HTHS, and has coached various programs there.
The ribbon cutting took place right before kicking off the Youth Wrestling Season with the Alabama Wrestling Organization, which is open to boys and girls in grades K-6. The club is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
