Position Requirements • Minimum 18 years of age; • High school graduate, GED, or equivalent on the job experience; • Fluent in spoken and written English; • Ability to communicate orally and in writing; • Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Department Heads/Key Personnel • At least two (2) years of additional experience in the respective areas or departments they are heading. • At least two (2) years supervisory experience of stagehands in first-class, professional theatrical settings. • Able to function in high pressure situations. • Able to serve as team leader. • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service. • Maintain a neat, orderly, and professional appearance. Audio Technician • Basic familiarity and working knowledge of audio (portable and installed) and theatrical systems. Prefer working knowledge of Organization’s audio and theatrical systems; • Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds. Audio DH • Advanced working knowledge of audio (portable and installed) and theatrical systems; • Experience with the Organization’s audio system; • Experience working with digital signal processing, multiple patch-bays and multi-channel communications systems; • Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds; • Anyone crewed to work in this position must be on the Organization’s approved audio department head list before being crewed to work a call in this position. The position requires that anyone crewed to work in this position must go through Audio Department Head training and be deemed competent by the organization. Training occurs approximately twice a year and is coordinated with the Clients; • Position coordinates calls for the audio crew and communicates accurate call information to the Representative. Audio Board Operator • Advanced working knowledge of audio systems and consoles, both portable and installed, including line array speaker systems, Yamaha CL series digital consoles, Dante networks; • Ability to accurately execute audio cues and to create high-quality live audio mixes for concert, theatrical, spoken word, and other events; • Stagehands crewed to work in this position must be on the Organization’s approved audio board operator list for the scheduled space before being crewed to work a call in this position. The Organization requires that anyone crewed to work in this position must go through Audio Department Head training. Training occurs approximately twice a year and is coordinated with the Clients; • Advanced working knowledge of multiple patch-bay usage and multi-channel communication systems; • Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds. Electrics Hand • Ability to safely and correctly hang and circuit lighting equipment as directed by Department Head, the Organization or written instructions; • Ability to differentiate between different fixture types by industry standard names; • Ability to safely and correctly trouble-shoot and replace faulty components such as lamps, fuses, plugs or cables; • Ability to correctly strike and put away lighting equipment in specified storage locations. Light Board Operator • Ability to patch and program lighting consoles as directed by the Department Head, the Organization, or written instructions; • Ability to translate the artistic instructions into a stage lighting status; • Ability to accurately execute lighting cues and create high-quality stage lighting for concert, theatrical, spoken word, and other event types; • Familiarity with stage color and pattern effects; • Ability to direct lighting focus as needed to achieve desired artistic results; • The University requires that anyone crewed to work in this position must go through Light Board Operator training and be approved by the Organization. Training occurs approximately once a year and is coordinated with the Clients. Electrics DH • Ability to lead and direct skilled lighting crew to physically realize all lighting needs for a production as specified by the University or production lighting paperwork; • Ability to program lighting network devices and interface correctly with the University’s lighting equipment; • Must have thorough understanding of a wide variety of light programs and equipment; • Ability to safely calibrate and re-lamp xenon follow spots; • Ability to program or modify dimmer racks; • Anyone crewed to work in this position must be on the Organization’s approved lighting department head list before being crewed to work a call in this position; • The Organization requires that anyone crewed to work in this position must go through Electrics Head/Master Electrician training and be approved by the Organization. Training occurs approximately once a year and is coordinated with the Clients; • Position coordinates calls for the electrics crew and communicates accurate call information to the Representative. Followspot Operator • At least one (1) year of experience operating followspots in a theater environment; • Ability to smoothly follow performers as directed by the Organization, including “blind pickups”, correct beam size, color, and edge, smooth visible changes such as iris in or out, color shifts, fade-ins, and fade-outs; • Experience operating carbon arc, xenon, and incandescent instruments. Video Projectionist • At least two (2) years of experience as a video projectionist in a theater environment. • Familiar with Apple iOS and Microsoft Windows PowerPoint, Apple iOS Keynote; • Able to run premade shows and troubleshoot them for various presentation issues as needed; • Familiar with the various theatrical departments (Carpentry, Electrics, Audio, Props, etc.) and able to communicate technical matters across departments; • Able to connect projection source to projector and trouble shoot connection issues; • Able to troubleshoot iOS and Microsoft Windows operating system issues that may affect system stability during presentations; • Operationally familiar with various consumer, prosumer, and theatrical projection systems and able to learn new equipment quickly; • Familiar with basic menu options and image correction solutions and techniques; • Familiar with installation, setup and operation of various types of monitors and plasma screens. Pyrotechnician • At least two (2) years of experience in operation of pyrotechnics in a theater environment. • Hold valid, Texas Pyrotechnic Operator or Pyrotechnic Special Effects Operator or Flame Effects Operator licenses, whichever is mandated by the State for the task at hand. Any Stagehand who regularly and continuously mixes the compounds of Binary Theatrical Flash Powder is required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to obtain a Type 19, Manufacturer of Theatrical Flash Powder license. Stagehands must be able to provide the University proof of appropriate license(s) upon request; Rigger • Hold Theatrical Rigging Certification from the Entertainment Technician Certification Program or have demonstrated working knowledge of industry practices and safety standards with at least five (5) years of experience with hardware used to lift, lower and hold performance equipment on or above a stage in a theater and/or arena environment; • Experience installing and maintaining permanent stage rigging, spot-line rigging, dead-hang rigging, temporary rigging and diverters/kicking sheaves. Truck Loader Technician qualified and experienced to safely and capably load and unload theatrical or concert equipment from bobtail and semi trucks. • Truck loader must have at least one year of experience loading and unloading theatrical/concert equipment from both semi and bobtail trucks. Properties • At least one (1) year of experience running props for theatrical productions. Fly Rail Operator • At least two (2) years of experience working the fly rail in a theater environment, including experience with double and single purchase counterweight systems. • Working knowledge of industry practices and safety standards; • Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds repeatedly and safely. Fly Rail Loader • At least two (2) years of experience working the fly loading rail in a theatre environment; • Working knowledge of industry practices and safety standards; • Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds repeatedly and safely. Forklift Operator • At least two (2) years of experience operating a forklift or other industrial lift vehicle in a theatre environment. • OSHA compliant certified (title 8 section 3668 OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.178) for the operation of both propane and electric forklifts and have experience with forklift loading and unloading of semi-trucks and bobtail trucks. Wardrobe • At least one (1) year of experience running wardrobe for theatrical productions; • Ability to perform basic stitching techniques, laundry, steaming, pressing, ironing and folding and follow specific, detailed instructions related to these tasks; • Advanced capability in areas such as fine hand stitching, beadwork, shoe repair and machine sewing; • Comfortable working in small, dimly lit spaces; • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds. Wig and Make-up • At least one (1) year hairstyling experience; • Able to put on both hard front and lace front wigs; • Understand the differences in handling human hair and synthetic hair wigs; • Able to stand for long periods of time; • Experience on at least three (3) previous productions as makeup artist or wig crew. Camera Operator Technician qualified and experienced to fulfill video camera operator responsibilities for a first class, live theatrical performance event. • At least two (2) years of experience operating cameras in a live performance environment; • Ability to quickly set up and operate camera equipment; • Operationally familiar with a variety of consumer, prosumer and broadcast quality camera equipment; • Ability to operate fixed and hand-held cameras; • Ability to run shows, smoothly follow performance action and quickly change shots as directed; • Operational fluency in professional language regarding camera and shot position, angle and movement; • Ability to communicate professionally with venue and tour staff; • Able to function in high pressure situations; • Maintain a neat, orderly and professional appearance.
