Description

The Management Edge, Inc. (TME) () is an organization development consulting firm specializing in developing and enhancing truly-effective team collaboration in organizations of all kinds. Our coach/facilitators are working with multi-organizational teams to build the ability of these teams to collaborate effectively to achieve purposes that are strategically important. Specifically, we coach & facilitate state and governmental joint teams that are doing the vital work of investigating and cleaning up hazardous wastes at military installations nationwide. Typically, our client teams meet virtually or face-to-face from as few as four days per year to as many as 20 days per year. Our people work with their assigned teams throughout these virtual or face-to-face sessions. Our project teams are typical long term – five plus years. After orientation, a shadowing experience, and necessary training, new facilitators will first work with a single team. Experienced facilitators might eventually work with as many as six teams. Our coaches/facilitators are independent contractors, not employees. Compensation rates vary depending on the credentials and experience of the coach/facilitator. We will provide initial training and shadowing opportunities prior to assignments as well as active involvement with a mentor/coach for some period of time following assignment. Financial support to develop basic credentials and certifications is negotiable. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We’ll look at people who embrace creating effective teams – we’re seeking a mindset, not a specific academic major. Having a working knowledge of how to use personality assessments, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), DiSC, Thomas-Kilmann, and the Conflict Dynamics Profile (CDP), to increase communication and effectiveness will be required, but are not initially necessary. The ideal candidate will have three to five years facilitation experience working with teams. We seek people who are inherently curious and who love to learn – especially about interpersonal dynamics, group process, and conflict management, who are disciplined enough to be able to sit through hours of detailed technical talk (and stay awake!), who are insightful enough to recognize when a coaching intervention is necessary, who are analytical enough to package and deliver effective interventions, who are confident enough to intervene when they see the need, who are self-aware enough to keep ones’ own needs and ego out of the work, and who are other-aware enough to know (or be able to learn) how to intervene constructively. In this position will most likely require, overnight, out-of-town. If you think you would be interested, please respond with an initial email message and resume.
