New Horizons Family Center works with teenage mothers and their babies in Summerton SC. We are a group home that works with 8 teenage moms and their children. We give them a safe place to live, the ability to go to school and gain employment, and teach them life skills and job skills so that they can one day succeed on their own. We are looking for Weekend House Moms that can help guide, mentor, and share healthy habits of raising their children, and help these young ladies gain the independence & confidence to succeed in life. Principle Duties: -Provide care and supervision for residents and their children at the New Horizons Family Center Program. House moms provide oversight in the quarters with 4 teen mothers and their children. -This position requires committing to some day(s) on 3 weekends a month (weekends -Friday, Saturday, Sunday) -Provide childcare during the mother's absence. -Participate in recreational and developmental treatment activities for residents and their children. -Provide transportation to scheduled activities in facility vehicles. -Assist in and teach the mothers meal preparation, food nutrition, and meal planning on a budget for participants in the program. -Conduct instructional sessions with residents on parenting and life skills. -Attend to the personal, health, and behavioral needs of the residents. -Provide medication and keep accurate records in the medication log as well as other documentation. -All other duties as assigned by the Director/Coordinator. Qualifications: - HS Degree or Equivalent - Experience working with teenagers. - Experience with babies/toddlers - Must have the patience, understanding, flexibility, and a lot of energy. - Must be willing to sacrifice, adapt and work hard as part of a team pursuing an objective. - Must be physically able to perform the tasks required to teach outdoors. Salary: $8.75-$9.25 an hour
