About ELEKTRAPOD: Elektrapod is the vibrant creation of guitarist/keyboardist “Brother Gabe” Johnson. Formed with the vision of fusing Funk, Soul, Riff Rock & Hip Hop w/ Dance music and Jamband improvisational sensibilities, Gabe has aimed from the start to write strikingly moving and hooky original music while creating a live band that would truly stand out. There is no doubt that he has accomplished just that; hugely impressing every audience the band has performed for. Elektrapod’s lineup has featured many fine musicians and singers over the years, but its current lineup is no doubt its finest yet. Featuring Portland’s premiere powerful lady of soul Sarah Clarke (Dirty Revival, Outer Orbit) on vocals and uber-talented keyboard phenom Maxwell Friedman, with whom Gabe plays in Maxwell Friedman Group, veteran bassist Mark Karwan, and versatile drummer Kyle Pickard, Gabe has assembled a truly colorful collection of players, all of whom have tremendous chops and taste, as well as a strong creative presence and drive. Elektrapod's repertoire has largely been built from the original works of Brother Gabe, who recently released Brother Gabe - FireOnyx, co-produced by Brother Gabe & Steve “Swatkins” Watkins (Allen Stone Band, Scary Pockets). Deeply funky & soulful, and featuring beautifully crafted original compositions throughout, the album truly sparkles, shines & scorches, leaving an indelible impression on any listener’s soul. FireOnyx is an instant classic; a musical journey through the cathartic, transformational and “Fironic” qualities of Love, Life & Music. In addition to performing their well-crafted original songs, Elektrapod has also fully embraced live improvisation and their live performances have been celebrated by many fans for drawing on and manifesting a whole lot of magic and synergy. After high profile appearances at many events, festivals and venues throughout the Western US, Elektrapod is known as one of the hottest and most prolifically talented live bands ever to have emerged from the Central Oregon scene. About MAXWELL FRIEDMAN GROUP: THE FUTURE OF NEO-JAZZ FUNK SOUL FUSION - 17-year-old Maxwell Friedman is living proof that some musicians are indeed “born with it." At an incredibly young age, in less than a decade since he started playing, his ferocious and inspired keyboard playing, and his tasteful and clever compositions are already becoming legendary while his skill, knowledge, taste, phrasing, artistry and professionalism are already on-par with many accomplished players on the national scene who, without hesitation, call him their peer. One of the youngest players to have ever been endorsed by Hammond Organ, Maxwell has already been invited to share the stage with many musical heavy hitters such as Karl Denson, George Porter Jr., The New Mastersounds, Skerik, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Michael Franti, The Werks, ALO, TAUK, Leftover Salmon, Scott Pemberton, and many more. In 2019, Maxwell was invited to be an artist-at-large at numerous West Coast festivals including the legendary High Sierra Music Fest. This young wunderkind’s star is surely on the rise yet perhaps the most impressive work he has done thus far has been with his own band, Maxwell Friedman Group. Assembling veteran players, many years his senior, including guitarist “Brother Gabe” Johnson, the band delivers what Maxwell likes to call “Inspired Neo-Jazz Funk Soul Fusion”. This illustrious young man not only has shown a maturity beyond his years in leading his elder musicians, but also continues to write works mature beyond his years while creating extremely colorful soundscapes that are beyond compare. In 2019, the band released its debut album, "Beyond Neblar - Live in Bend" and they toured the West Coast in support of its release, including high profile support dates with Greyboy Allstars, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and The New Mastersounds. Now that the “pandemic pause” is nearing its end, the band has finally begun work on their first studio album, which they expect to release in early 2022. Parallel 44 Presents promotes musical events in Central Oregon, primarily in Bend. With over 1100 shows presented thus far, P44P's primary focus is promoting, supporting, furthering and developing music that put smiles on people's faces, compels them to move their bodies, and inspires them to ponder the deeper meaning of it all.
