Description

PLEASE READ THE DETAILS OF THIS FIELD TRIP CAREFULLY. EACH FIELD TRIP HAS UNIQUE GUIDELINES FOR AGES, NUMBER OF CHAPERONES, ETC. NO REFUNDS! This field trip is for Heartland Charter School students and their families. Join us as we have a negative tide to explore the tide pools and talk about the flora and fauna of our beautiful Carpinteria Beach. Plan to explore the tide pools and share finds with fellow Heartland students. This is a special habitat for us to observe and explore!Twelve miles south of Santa Barbara, Carpinteria State Beach offers a mile of beach for swimming, surf fishing, tidepool exploring, and camping. The Spanish named the area Carpinteria because the Chumash tribe, which lived in the area, had a large seagoing canoe-building enterprise, or "carpentry shop" here. This was because of naturally occurring surface tar, which was used to waterproof the canoes. Tide Pools are rocky areas along the shoreline that are located between the high tide and low tide elevations. They are only accessible by land during certain low tides, being able to visit these unique habitats is a special opportunity. Tide pools contain starfish, sea anemones, crabs, snails, octopuses and sea urchins. Harbor seals and dolphins can often be seen near Carpinteria State Beach. Please do some of the Pre Field Trip activities found in this link: https://padlet.com/carpinteriastatebeach/95rd2pmjmkbygte4 We encourage families to turn in a sample that is linked to the field trip that you attended during your next learning period. It helps to ensure that we can continue to provide these trips and their educational value. Heartland field trips are designed for families to attend together. If your student will be attending with another family please indicate this when you register your student and let the field trip host know once you complete your registration. Any student that is registered without a chaperone will have their reservation canceled unless the family reaches out to the field trip lead and lets them know which registered chaperone will be responsible for their student. **To ensure the health and safety of all attendees, please do not attend a field trip if you, your student(s), or anyone in your household is ill or showing possible signs of illness.***Masks will be required for all indoor field trips per California state guidelines. Can I pay using my funds?
