Description
Texas sotol tasting with guests from Desert Door and Spoke Hollow Outfitters. Join the BCS Stewards of the Wild for this exclusive event! Join us Tuesday, November 16th, for a sotol tasting with our friends from Desert Door and Spoke Hollow Outfitters at the King Ranch Saddle Shop. We will discuss the plant, the history of the drink, Desert Door's story and conservation efforts, and taste some delicious Texas sotol. Desert Door is a craft distiller of a premium and unique Texas spirit known as Texas sotol. The spirit is made from the sotol plant which is wild-harvested in West Texas. Desert Door is the only sotol distillery in the United States. Inspired by Texas land stewards, their team puts conservation at the forefront of their process, striving to make the most of each 15-year-old plant and working on unique efforts throughout the year to revive the Texas landscape. A collaboration between Desert Door and Spoke Hollow, the second in the Desert Door Conservation Series, was created to bring attention to individuals and organizations who have taken remarkable action in forwarding conservationism. The newest creation, dubbed Spoke Hollow, recognizes Spoke Hollow Founder, Josh Crumpton, and his 1,000 acre ranch as a model of conservation practices. Josh Crumpton will join us as well to discuss Spoke Hollow Outfitters, an outdoor adventure company headquartered in the Texas Hill Country (Wimberly, TX) and specializing in upland hunting & fly fishing. Josh is a 7th generation Texan who was raised spending equal time in Telluride, CO, and the Texas Hill Country. He is the owner and operator of Spoke Hollow Outfitters, and the primary steward of Spoke Hollow Ranch. He feels that there is a true connection to the natural cycle that comes from being an active participant in bringing your own protein to the table and his mission is to share that feeling with others. During the event, King Ranch Saddle Shop will offer 15% off of purchases and Blackwater Draw Brewing Co. will provide beer. Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation leverages public funds with private philanthropy to advance Texas's proud outdoor traditions and conserve our state's wildlife, habitat, recreational areas, and natural resources. Since its inception in 1991, the TPWF has raised more than $170 million to help ensure that all Texans, today and in the future, can enjoy the wild things and wild places of Texas.
