Job Summary: Perform painting operations mixing paints and applying primer and topcoat. Ensure metal surfaces are suitable for painting. Perform work tasks and projects in other departments as assigned by management. Comply with all company policies. Communicate effectively, show respect to fellow coworkers, act professionally and work within a team focused environment. Suggest and actively participate in continuous improvement activities. Responsibilities and Duties: Quality 1. Use system level prints for reference as the customer authorized print to ensure accuracy of product. 2. Check work orders for the correct paint colors to apply to the products and compare to system level print. 3. Work with the department supervisor to minimize paint color change over. 4. Have a part in the paint queue area at all times waiting to be painted. 5. Mix paints according to specifications. 6. Ensure the metal surfaces being painted are prepared properly and are suitable for paint applications. 7. Apply primer and wait the appropriate queue time before applying the topcoat. 8. Apply primer and topcoats according to specifications and monitor mill thickness of each coat application. 9. Paint within the confines of the paint booth. Ensure the ventilation system is turning when painting. 10. Ensure the required areas of each part is covered with primer and topcoat applications. Apply coats of paint evenly, smoothly and without runs or drips. 11. Do not apply paint if the temperature in the paint area is under the allowable minimum temperature of 60 degrees. 12. Keep paints organized, labeled, and properly stored. 13. Check the Dwyer gauge on the paint booth frequently, if the reading exceeds.20, stop paint operations and change filters. 14. Neatly move materials to quality check points in a logical and organized manner. 15. Ensure all parts are checked and conform to print specifications. 16. Comply with all quality requirements including policies, procedures, and work instructions. 17. Stop your work if you find a quality related issue. Inform your supervisor immediately. 18. Perform your work with the utmost pride, skilled craftsmanship, and a focus on quality and productivity. 19. Watch for defective material, scratches, dents, grooves, or poor workmanship from previous instructions. 20. Do not perform work if you have not been properly trained or are not on an approved operators list. Safety 21. Comply with all safety procedures and protocol. Never perform work in an unsafe manner. Report safety concerns to your department supervisor. Productivity 22. Maintain a consistent and high level of productivity at all times whether you are working in your assigned department, in another department or working on a task, maintenance activity or project. 5S- Organization and Cleanliness 23. Comply with all 5S policies and procedures (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain). 24. Keep your work area clean, neat, and organized at all times. 25. Perform all required preventative maintenance activities. Labor Reporting & Record Keeping 26. Clock in and out of all jobs you work on in the company time click to report your labor. This includes all work you perform. Labor reporting is to be done accurately and in a timely manner. 27. Maintain all company records neatly and accurately that have been assigned to you. Product Identification 28. Identify all parts and material with work order #’s in the appropriate method. Qualifications: 1. Experience painting and applying two coat wet paint applications of primer and topcoats. 2. Experience with air driven paint applications. 3. Appropriate related skills. 4. Ability to read and interpret customer and company drawings and blueprints.
