"Media Relations on a (Even Smaller) Budget" presented by Rod Guajardo, University of Georgia "Media Relations on a (Even Smaller) Budget"Presented by Rod Guajardo, Director for Integrated Media Communications at the University of GeorgiaFormer Northeast Mississippian Rod Guajardo will join us from his new home in Athens, Georgia, to talk media relations. Specifically, his presentation will share free (or very cheap) tools that you can start using right away to help track marketing-communications functions across earned, shared and owned spaces. About Our Presenter Rod Guajardo is the Director for Integrated Media Communications at the University of Georgia. In this role, he manages media relations efforts for the university and leads a team of communications specialists and editors to tell UGA’s story through earned, shared and owned media opportunities. Guajardo joined UGA after working in the University of Mississippi’s Marketing and Communications office, where he served as the Director of News and Media Relations. Previously, he worked for nearly 10 years in the newspaper industry serving as the editor of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal in Tupelo and news editor of The Natchez Democrat in Natchez, among other positions and publications in Alabama and Georgia. Originally from Birmingham, he received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Auburn University and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Ole Miss. PRAM Northeast is based in Tupelo, Mississippi, and is one of 10 chapters that make up the Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM). PRAM is a state-wide organization, and the Northeast Chapter is home to members from all over Northeast Mississippi who work in Public Relations (PR), Marketing, Communication and Media. The organization provides members the opportunity to network among peers for the purpose of professional development, continuing education, accreditation, achievement recognition, and to hone skills required for success in the field.  As a member of PRAM Northeast, practitioners are also eligible to submit their work for recognition and peer review in the annual PRism Awards hosted by the Public Relations Association of Mississippi and to the Lantern Awards hosted by the Southern Public Relations Federation. Members are also eligible to pursue their Accrediation in Public Relations (APR), a nationally recognized graduate program designed to demonstrate competency in the knowledge, skills and abilities required to practice public relations effectively.
