Orioles' Fall Instructional League Camp Under Way In Sarasota

SARASOTA, FL — The Baltimore Orioles kicked off their Fall Instructional League Camp at the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota Monday. The team's annual instructional league program runs through Nov. 20 and focuses on the development of individual players to help with their progress in the minor league baseball system, according to a news release from Major League Baseball. Since 2010, the stadium has also been the spring training home of the Orioles. Among those participating in this year's fall camp at Ed Smith Stadium are 17 players selected by the Orioles during the draft and 19 prospects in their Top 30 list, MLB said. The Orioles' farm system ranked No. 1 in the league by MLB Pipeline in August. Previously, it ranked No. 5 pre-season. Five of its players are listed among the Top 100 MLB prospects this season, including the No. 1 prospect, catcher Adley Rutschman, according to the MLB. Other players in the Top 100 include: No. 8: Grayson Rodriguez, right-handed pitcherNo. 72: DL Hall, left-handed pitcherNo. 74: Gunnar Henderson, infielderNo. 76: Colton Cowser, outfielder Cowser, Hall and Henderson will be participating in the instructional league camp. This year's camp is closed to the public and the media. Orioles' pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to the team's 2022 spring training on Feb. 22. The first full-squad workout will take place Feb. 20.
