October 19, 2021 Mitch Carr 5174905046 [email protected] Ready Set ASPIRE Festival [Lansing, Michigan] -- For over a year COVID has restricted the local community from being engaged with each other. As we start to transition to gathering together again, it is time for the Lansing community to come together to show our Mid-Michigan pride. This Saturday, October 23, ASPIRE Relationship Education is hosting their “Ready Set ASPIRE Festival” in Reo Town Lansing. “We are so excited to welcome Lasing youth and their families for a day to support healthy lives and purpose to become the people they ASPIRE to be. The goal for the festival is to facilitate an amazing one day event that will connect youth, their families, and the community with amazing organizations, businesses, and services from around Greater Lansing. These connections will encourage positive relationships and healthy choices.” This will be a four hour event that runs from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at 1518 S. Washington in Lansing, MI. Lunch will be provided. No registration is necessary, so please come out to support the GLA community. This event will be following CDC guidelines for everyone's safety. Masks are encouraged and we will have some on sight for your convenience. In attendance at the festival the Creativity in the Time of COVID team will be hosting a self growth workshop. Participants will be able to paint flower pots and plant seeds while learning about ways to promote self-esteem. There will also be several other attractions including: Self portraits guided by RL Designs and Ryan Holmes Orchesta Ritmo: Salsa dance lessons Corzo effect And, special musical guests The self-growth workshop is made possible through a Michigan State University Mellon Foundation “Just Futures” grant titled, Creativity in the Time of COVID-19: Art as a Tool For Combating Inequality and Injustice. This project’s goal is to gather and share stories about how people have used creativity to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic.
