Educator, Elizabeth Burnham Received the "8-Spoked Salute" The Bruins and the MA State Lottery are proud to salute the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. After each home game of the 2021/22 season, a member of the Armed Forces (Active Duty, Guard or Reserve) will receive the 8-Spoked Salute for their service. Selected winners will receive a shout-out during the Bruins game broadcast on NESN and on the Bruins official Twitter and Facebook channels and 4 Loge tickets to a Bruins game. On Saturday, October 16th, at the first Bruins game of the season, one of Dale Street School's beloved teachers, Elizabeth Burnham, was honored at the conclusion of the win as part of the 8-Spoked Salute presented by the MA State Lottery! Fellow educator and friend, Mike Mason, nominated Burnham for this honor. Burnham is an active-duty Captain Promotable in the United States Army Reserves. Serving as a Military Intelligence Officer, she also deployed to Iraq as part of the 404th Civil Affairs Battalion during her time in the Army. Over her 21 years of active service in both the Army and Army Reserves, she has been awarded numerous awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. She has recently been selected as a candidate for promotion to the rank of Major within the Army Reserves. Outside of her military duties, she currently is a 5th grade teacher at Dale Street School in Medfield and is currently working in her 24th year as an educator.
