Description
Hi folks! Looking to build a pro-level RUSH tribute band to serve the Bay Area. We do not have a local-based RUSH tribute group. After waiting for years for one to emerge, but nothing, I'm grass-rootsing it. I am a pro level musician. While I am best at lead guitar, I have also performed as a strong bassist, drummer, keyboardist / synths and singer. Looking for a Neil Peart and Geddy Lee if y'all are out there. Ideal would be to have a trio with all RUSH skillsets assigned per RUSH traditional formation with 1) Bassist does vocals and synths 2) Guitarist does backing vocals 3) Drummer does mythical force of nature. Realizing RUSH traditional formation is god-level, alternate approaches will be entertained if and only if the output is near perfect RUSH replication. For example, I can do synths, independent lead singer and bass player, etc. Age, appearance, gender is NOT a factor: candidates only need to be able to rip RUSH. Personally, I am 44 yo M. About equipment: I have a deep inventory of pro-level gear and resources to acquire missing pieces via my best friend's online music store (i.e. "hey BFF, can you ask the Gibson Custom Shop to send us a b-stock Alex Lifeson Les Paul?", "Sure." Meaning, if you can play RUSH like RUSH, you will be lent the proper tools for the job if you do not own them. Level of commitment: Minimum is, "Be able to perform 1 RUSH tribute show every 2 - 3 months." My max is 1 RUSH tribute performance per week (this is not my main music effort). Rehearsal: As a pro-level musician, I'm capable of group deciding on set, learning individually, having 1 to 2 practice sessions, then performing with precision. This may not be you and that's ok. It is the outcome of beautifully executed RUSH sets that is the focus, how to get there is flexible. Rehearsal space will be provided by me (rehearsal studio in San Rafael, not at a home). "Out-of-box" skill level: Expectations are set at "able to play RUSH precisely at home" and "anxiety does not block performing to 150+ people." No need for a trophy case or years of performing. No need to already have RUSH discography memorized. Attitude: Non-negotiable ->NO ASSHOLES. Doesn't matter if you are Jedi-level. Have you ever been mysteriously kicked out of a band? Are you in treatment for a narcissistic personality disorder? Do you measure your friends in your mind as "better than or less than?" Do you get legitimately upset if the crew forgets your water bottle or mic scarf? If you said yes to any of these, do not reply! If you show these qualities, you will be promptly shown the door with a polite smile. Performances: Management activities can be handled by me entirely or shared if folks have the skills. I am decently connected in the Bay Area music industry / venues, I have friends that are key players with direct links to venue owners, I have a fancy business school degree from a fancy school. Profits will be distributed to all core players. Core players are: Bass, Guitar, Drums, Vocals. No per diems or advance pay available, no plan to tour, Bay Area only bookings. Purchases that benefit the entire band (i.e. "let's get lasers," let's upgrade the PA, etc.) will be pre-approved by all band members and funded from performance income. Individual equipment needs, refer to 'about equipment.' Important note: I reserve the right to be tie-breaker / director if the consensus decision making of the group breaks down. Not to be a dick, just to remove potential 'mission' blockers if and only if they arise. Mission here is to bring superb RUSH performances to Bay Area audiences. I'm passionate about the above framework to carry this project to stage. Goal is to ramp this to performances in 3 months. If all of the above sounds good, send me an email with a short clip (vid / audio quality doesn't matter) of you doing RUSH. If no sample is sent, I'll reply with a reminder: I don't have time to have lengthy discussion about this project without some sort of proof that you can rip RUSH.
