TRUMBULL, CT — Election Day is approaching fast, and a number of key positions in Trumbull will be on the ballot. To help readers make an informed decision on Nov. 2, Patch has reached out to local candidates to share their views on various topics of importance in town. Democrat Joanne Glasser Orenstein, 62, is running for Town council district 6 in Trumbull.Occupation: Health And Wellness Coordinator, Ymca Family: Husband Jay Orenstein Sons Max and Julian Orenstein Daughter Zoe Orenstein All three kids graduates of Trumbull School System K-12 Experience: Town Council District 3 Family in government: No The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it: Keeping the school system strong and mindfully funded and equitable. Making sure our town is safe and hospitable to all our residents. I advocate for school and town funding and administration that reflects those goals. Making the smartest decisions possible that work. Critical differences between me and my opponents: I have been in Town Council during a most tumultuous time. I will listen to everyone's concerns and answer them. Accomplishments: I'm an incumbent. Prior to Town Council, I have been on the Trumbull Day Committee, TPAUD, the First Selectman's Committee on Health & Wellness, and the President of the PTA and Secretary on PTA Council. I've been a clerk for the Library Board of Trustees and the Frenchtown Building Committee. I care about our Town. Other issues: I care deeply about how our kids are educated as it effects every resident young and old. I want to ensure our taxes remain stable. What else would you like voters to know about you? I am a graduate of the Stern School of Business at NYU and have lived in Trumbull for 31 years.
