BURLINGTON, MA — Burlington was listed as the 18th-best small city in America in a new ranking released Tuesday by personal finance website WalletHub.
Don't think too hard about the metrics behind this one — or about the fact that Burlington isn't a city. WalletHub included broad categories of affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of Life and safety.
The town ranked ninth in the nation in education and health, 33d in economic health and 86th in safety. It was also 280th in affordability and 515th in quality of life.
Burlington was one of eight Massachusetts communities in the top 20. Lexington (4th,) Reading (5th,) Milton (8th,) Melrose (9th,) Arlington (14th,) Newton and Needham (t-16th) ranked above it.
Sammamish, WA, Carmel, IN and Brentwood, TN were the top three in the nation.
